When is it better to use a PDF file instead of Word?

How often have you received a Word file only to open it and see that all of the formatting is off? When you need to convert Microsoft Word documents to a more universal format, PDF is often the best choice. Here are several advantages a PDF format offers compared to Word:

  1. Consistency – PDFs lock your document’s formatting so that it looks the same on any device.
  2. Security – PDFs can be password-protected, redacted, and flattened, offering greater security for confidential information.
  3. Professionalism – PDFs are widely used official documents, contracts, and reports, offering coherent formatting and appearance.
  4. Compression – PDFs can be compressed to reduce file size without losing quality.
